OUR STORM SHELTERS CAN BE INSTALLED IN ONE OF THREE WAYS

OPTION 1: COMPLETELY BURIED

Our concrete shelters are built with only the best materials and can be completely buried on a hill side or slope for added protection. A buried storm shelter adds a secondary layer of protection by surrounding your storm shelter with earth. A buried storm shelter can also be covered with sod to better blend with your homes landscaping. Be sure to ask a Smith and Yeager Storm Shelter professional which install option is best to fit your need.

OPTION 2: PARTIALLY BURIED

A partially buried concrete storm shelter is a great option for those that do not have a hillside or slope to completely burry their storm shelters. Smith and Yeager Storm Shelters are constructed to withstand the storm with no additional protection so they can be installed partially buried on level ground. Another great aspect of a partially buried storm shelter is you can install them in a place that is easily accessable to you and your family. Just like our completely buried unit you can add landscaping or sod to beautify you storm shelter. With Smith and Yeager Storm Shelters you and your family can rest assured knowing you are safe from the next big storm. Be sure to ask your Smith and Yeager Storm Shelter professional which install option is best for you.

OPTION 3: ABOVE GROUND

Part of the terror of an EF5 tornado like the one that hit Moore on May 20 is the notion that nothing above ground can survive a direct hit and the 200 mph winds that rip homes off foundations. But that’s not exactly true. Above ground storm shelters held up exceptionally well in the tornado and could be a better choice than a traditional underground storm cellar. Our above ground storm shelters are made with 4000psi concrete with 6in x 6in x6 gauge reinforcement wire and # 3 rebar. Ceiling and floors are 6in to 71/4 in thick! We use a 32in wide or 40in wide 10 gauge steel door and our above ground shelters come standard with 4 six inch air vents which are made into the shelter. Our above ground shelters weigh in a approximatley 20,000 pounds and anchoring is available. Outside shelter dimensions is 7ft wide x 8ft long x 7ft 2in high. Inside shelter dimensions is 6ft wide x 7ft long x 6ft 2in high.
