Looks like iOS 11.4.1 really did fix iPhone battery drain
Many iPhone user experienced quick battery drain problems with iOS 11.4. This week, Apple introduced an operating system update designed to fix bugs with its predecessor. Did that take care of the complaints?
Comments posted online generally seem to show that iOS 11.4.1 squashed this battery bug. Not everyone agrees, though.
Complaints about
battery problems in iOS 11.4
began almost as soon as Apple released this version in May.
A comment on the Apple support forum from
user Zide99
is typical: “My iPhone 6 was working perfectly fine until I updated to iOS 11.4 and ever since I did that my battery is draining rapidly even without me using it at all.”
Users reported similar battery problems with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, and even the iPhone X.
iOS 11.4.1 fixes iPhone battery drain
Those experiencing this problem were probably nervous when
iOS 11.4.1 debuted this week
because the release notes said nothing about fixing battery issues. Still, many went ahead and installed the update and are now reporting significant improvements.
Not mentioned anywhere in the release notes but it looks like iOS 11.4.1 seems to fix the battery drain problem I had with iOS 11.4.

One user calling himself
Bazzar reported
on the Apple support community “The iOS 11.4 update killed my iPhone 8 battery life… But iOS 11.4.1? Only about 12 hours experience so far, but battery life is now very good, superficially the drain seems to be even better than with 11.3.”
Marco Miltenburg took to Twitter
to say “Not mentioned anywhere in the release notes but it looks like iOS 11.4.1 seems to fix the battery drain problem I had with iOS 11.4.” And a quick note also on
Twitter from Santiago Escobar
says “The battery in iOS 11.4.1 is better.”
These are just some examples of the many social media posts about iOS 11.4.1. The majority are positive about the new version, but there’s no way the Internet can ever agree on anything.
A post on the Apple support forum, this one from someone calling himself
Farghalalimabrouk, says
“I was on ios 11.3 and updated to iOS IOS 11.4.1 which shocked me with severe battery drain.”
Fixing the iPhone battery bug (assuming it is fixed) isn’t the only improvement with this new version. It also
makes iPhone hacking
more difficult.
